Schorr, Moses
(1874-1941)
   Polish rabbi and scholar. He was born in Przemysl, Galicia. He was appointed a lecturer in Jewish religious studies at the Jewish Teachers Seminary in Lemberg in 1899. He eventually became professor of Semitic languages and ancient history at Lemberg University, and later taught at Warsaw University. In 1928 he was one of the founders of the Institute for Jewish Studies, which served as the rabbinical seminary of Poland; he taught there and became the institute's rector. In 1935-8 he was a member of the Polish Sejm. He wrote studies of Polish Jewish history, Semitic history and philology, and the history of Babylonian and Assyrian culture.
